The Story
Many parts of Europe will experience a solar eclipse on Wednesday evening. A solar eclipse is when the Moon blocks the light from the Sun. It will be the first in Europe since 1999.
Total eclipses are rare events but in the next few years, there will be a few. Following this summer’s eclipse there will be a total eclipse in Egypt next August, and a third in Australia and New Zealand in July 2028.
Looking directly at the Sun can damage your eyes, even during an eclipse. You can wear special eclipse glasses which block out most of the light so you can look at the Sun safely.

1. golden age —
含义:a particularly good or successful period of time(特别美好或成功的时期)
Scientists say we are in a golden age for cancer treatment. New medicines are being discovered all the time.
- ✅ 可数名词短语:a golden age of…
2. flock —
含义:travel in large numbers to a place(大量人群前往某地)
Crowds flocked to the town centre to watch the parade.
People flocking to Spain to view solar eclipse could spark more ‘devastating’ wildfires.
- ✅ 常用进行时:are flocking to…
含义:fake(假冒伪劣产品)
My friend bought some knock-off t-shirts online, but when they arrived they were terrible quality.
Experts warn ‘knock-off’ eclipse glasses could cause blindness.
- ✅ 名词/形容词皆可:a knock-off / knock-off goods

flock 的语用色彩:People flocking to Spain… 若改用 traveling to 或 heading to,语气有何变化?
knock-off 的风险传播:“Knock-off eclipse glasses could cause blindness” —— 假冒产品在关乎安全的领域(眼镜、药品、电器)如何用英语表达"致命风险"?(pose a lethal risk, endanger lives, be a matter of life and death)
如何用英语表达"双刃剑"?(double-edged sword, mixed blessing, trade-off between tourism revenue and ecological risk)
